October 26th is an online week. Here is your overview:
Post of the Week
Currently, no one is signed up for this. If no one wants to do it then it will not be possible to conduct it this week. If you would like to sign up for it, please go to the wiki and do so and then edit this section. You are free to lead a second Post of the Week if you desire.
Class Tweeters
Since we are online this week, we can have up to three classroom tweeters. If you sign up for this role, you are committed for the week and do so with the following understanding:
Your job starts at 5:00 pm on 10/26 and ends the evening of 11/1
You should be tweeting regularly throughout the week. This means that you should have 3-5 tweets at a minimum during a day. You can do more if you wish.
If you have elected your tweets to remain private, I will request to follow you. If you do not allow me to follow you, I cannot see your tweets and you will get no credit. there will be no exceptions to this, and I will not go back later on after the week has passed to view the account
you can tweet about anything related to literacy instruction and what you are learning as a result of this class
use the assigned hashtag plus any additional hashtags you think are necessary
Note: If you are not a tweeter, I encourage you to read what others are tweeting and consider interacting with them during the week.

Take the Social Challenge!
Chapter 6 in Becoming Connected focuses on building relationships within your PLN. This week's focus is going to be about sharing your knowledge. It goes like this:
1. Head over here.
2. Watch/read whatever you like, but make sure you watch the first video with Alec Couros.
3. Alec talks about how we tend to hoard our knowledge, but on Twitter you are encouraged to share your knowledge. This is where you challenge starts.
4. Your social challenge this week focuses on sharing your knowledge as it relates to literacy teaching and learning. You must be actively sharing your knowledge on twitter. At a minimum, you should be posting 3-5 tweets per day of original thoughts. Ideally, you will also be retweeting the work of others (retweeting helps you connect and build your PLN). To get credit, I am looking for the original tweets.
5. Use whatever hashtags you like. All of our twitter handles are listed here should you want to see what a specific person is tweeting during the week.
XP = 1000
Question & Answer: What is the time frame for the challenge? The official challenge runs from Friday, 10/23 through Sunday, 11/1. You need to participate for five days. Days do not need to be consecutive.
What if I am also a classroom tweeter? That's fine. If you are a classroom tweeter then you will need to tweet for every day classroom tweeters are supposed to tweet. You may choose to tweet about things outside the social challenge. For example, you might choose to tweet about the process of the social challenge or working to develop a PLN - whatever you would normally do. The key is to see these as two separate quests. This means that on a day when you are serving as classroom tweeter AND doing the social challenge you will have 6-10 tweets. If this is confusing message me.
Does this go up on PI? Nope. This stays on twitter. You are free to talk about the quest on PI, but the actual work of it is on twitter.
Take the Extended Social Challenge!
This week's ESC happens after you have completed the social challenge. You will write/create a response that addresses the following question:
Describe/discuss your experiences on being active on twitter for one week
Your ESC must be posted by 11/9. Tag it ESC#5. Post your response on PI.
