October 12th is an online week. Here is your overview:
Post of the Week
Currently, no one is signed up for this. If no one wants to do it then it will not be possible to conduct it this week. If you would like to sign up for it, please go to the wiki and do so and then edit this section.
Class Tweeters
Since we are online this week, we can have up to three classroom tweeters. If you sign up for this role, you are committed for the week and do so with the following understanding:
Your job starts at 5:00 pm on 10/12 and ends the evening of 10/18
You should be tweeting regularly throughout the week. This means that you should have 3-5 tweets at a minimum during a day. You can do more if you wish.
If you have elected your tweets to remain private, I will request to follow you. If you do not allow me to follow you, I cannot see your tweets and you will get no credit. there will be no exceptions to this, and I will not go back later on after the week has passed to view the account
you can tweet about anything related to literacy instruction and what you are learning as a result of this class
use the assigned hashtag plus any additional hashtags you think are necessary
Note: If you are not a tweeter, I encourage you to read what others are tweeting and consider interacting with them during the week.
Class Tweeter: (#exploreliteracy) Anjali Class Tweeter: (#exploreliteracy) Matt Class Tweeter: (#exploreliteracy) Jenn
Take the Social Challenge!
Chapter 5 of Becoming Connected asks you to consider who you draw on to help make you great. Who you draw on may or may not be someone you personally know. Part of becoming a connected educator is finding a variety of people that inspire you even if you never meet them or develop deep relationships with them.
For this week's social challenge, you will create your own Follow 5/Find 5 list. It works like this:
1. Follow 5: Who are five people on twitter you think everyone in class should know about? Who are the five people (or organizations) that inspire you and make you great?
2. Find 5: Find five resources that inspire you and support your work.
XP = 1000 (must complete both parts)
Take the Extended Social Challenge!
Review the Take 5 list on page 77. Take any single idea from the list and implement it. You will need to prove that you did this. Some of these ideas are more complex and can take awhile to implement. Therefore, please do the following:
(a) identify which idea you plan to implement
(b) consider if it needs some tweaking to fit your context
(c) identify a general time frame for completion
(d) message me your plan
(e) post your plan - or completed work - to PI
