November 16th is an online week. This is your overview:
The Final Social Challenge: Unplug
The final chapter in the Connected text focuses on unplugging. Of course, you can't just randomly unplug (for the most part). The authors encourage you to be mindful and plan for it.
During the middle of the school year, and while taking a graduate class, it may not be realistic to think you can completely unplug. However, for this challenge consider the following:
(a) identify at least one way you can unplug. for example, no email on the weekend, or in the evenings, or whatever works....
(b) can you unplug in a different way each day of the week?
For this challenge, consider how you can unplug and what makes sense for you. The ideas above are just to get you thinking and to realize you don't have to draw a hard line when it comes to unplugging - just a realistic one.
Next, enact your plan. If something goes wrong, don't worry. Pick up where you left off.
Finally, share your experience of unplugging with us and what you learned, Post your link on PI.
This challenge is worth 3000 XP in its entirety and will be the only challenge this week. You must do all the steps to get the points.
Post to PI no later than 12:00 PM on 11/23 to receive credit.
Class Tweeters This will be the last opportunity to serve as a class tweeter. No opportunities will be available on the last day of class (11/23).
Since we are online this week, we can have up to three classroom tweeters. If you sign up for this role, you are committed for the week and do so with the following understanding:
Your job starts at 5:00 pm on 11/16 and ends the evening of 11/22
You should be tweeting regularly throughout the week. This means that you should have 3-5 tweets at a minimum during a day. You can do more if you wish.
If you have elected your tweets to remain private, I will request to follow you. If you do not allow me to follow you, I cannot see your tweets and you will get no credit. there will be no exceptions to this, and I will not go back later on after the week has passed to view the account
you can tweet about anything related to literacy instruction and what you are learning as a result of this class
use the assigned hashtag plus any additional hashtags you think are necessary
Note: If you are not a tweeter, I encourage you to read what others are tweeting and consider interacting with them during the week.
