Explore Project
The Explore Project is based on the concept of Google Fridays. The idea is for you to research/learn about anything you want that is literacy related. On 8/31, you will have 45 minutes of class time to work on your explore project and get it launched OR you can spend the time exploring around with different topics. You are expected to spend 60 minutes working on your project each week. During CCEE sessions, each person will have up to two minutes to share something about their work in class followed by up to three minutes of discussion.

The project is kept intentionally loose, but there are some general guidelines you must follow:
9/21: Project must be decided on; Post your project on the Explore Projects Listing page
11/30: Presentations given

Everything in between, including how you give your presentation, is up to you. We will decide as a class if there need to be some general guidelines about the presentations later in the semester.

Note: This project does not need to be research-based. You are simply learning more about something of interest to you in the field of literacy. This could take on any number of formats. For example, you could read a number of texts on your topic. You could implement a new way of teaching and find a way to share what you have learned from it. You could read and implement a new instructional style.

Suggestions to Get You Thinking.....

  • Critical Literacy
  • Media Literacy
  • Multimodal literacy
  • Current Issues in Literacy Policy (or historical)
  • Using graphic novels or nontraditional texts
  • Writing instruction
